Applying rudiments to the drumset

15 June 2008 421 views No Comment

Rudiments are for drumset what scales are for piano. You can can use them to increase tecnique skills, stick control and a lot of other stuff. But they are also a walhalla of ideas when they are used in musical way on the drumset.

On Berklee shares (online free lessons) there an interesting preview of “Rudiment Grooves for Drum Set” written by the associate professor Rick Considine. The preview is a .pdf multimedia document, and even if is only a preview, is full of good concepts.

* Single and Double Strokes
* Stroked Rolls
* Drags
* Flams
* Paradiddles double paradiddles, paradiddle grooves and fills
* Combinations
