The spaces between the notes: approaching drum solo, part 1

Here’s an approach the groove-to-solo-to-groove stuff. First steps are very easy: using click, play a simple pattern for a defined number of bars (eg. 2, 4, 8, 16 in 4/4 that are the most frequent measures you’ll have to fill with breaks) and then count loud and under your breath for an equal number of bars. The idea is to ‘measure’ and finally feel, at different tempos, the lenght of the spaces we’ll fill with breaks and solo. And, finally, return safe and in time to the groove. Another good practice is to count the break-silenced bar splitting the 4/4 time in different */8 bars. The goal is to start feeling different timing
