Modern Drummer launch a challenging question for his readers: what’s the best recorded drum solo?
Thinking back over the many amazing drum solos recorded by some of the all-time great drummers makes this a tough question. However, we’d love to know your thoughts on the topic. Here the second part of the drum solo and drums fills preparation. In first part we tried to feel the distances between the notes and the duration of bar we have to feel. Now we start playing simple notes creating rules and using rudments (that are always good in case of lack of ideas).

Here’s an approach the groove-to-solo-to-groove stuff. First steps are very easy: using click, play a simple pattern for a defined number of bars (eg. 2, 4, 8, 16 in 4/4 that are the most frequent measures you’ll have to fill with breaks) and then count loud and under your breath for an equal number of bars.
