Salento, three places for a drum circle
June in Salento, south east of italy, can be stunning. Sea is already hot, water with all the colors from blue to green, yellow sand and fresh wind cooling a red hot sun on beaches with few tourist.
Every year i try to spend some time here in my homeland. Yesterday i’ve suddenly realized that there are some beautiful and magic places where a drum circle could be played.
There are pinewood in Porto Selvaggio, San Foca and Torre San Giovanni that are perfect, with trees quite bathing their roots in the sea water. Those are also magic places, where you feel the power of the nature or, if you want, the voice of Gaia. And are also places that need to be protected from the human stupidity and from the ‘progress’, when progress means cement, hotels, palaces, and all the stuff that come with bad tourism.
Today I like to think that maybe one day we all can be here playing our drums, pleasing the spirits of this ancient land.
